Our quest to find fun apps for $.99 continued this week with one of our best finds in a while.  Tasty Tadpoles hit our phones after it caught our attention from iTunes.  The game is designed with great graphics, easy-to-learn controls and challenging, though beatable, levels.

In Tasty Tadpoles, you get to be the tadpole working to avoid the other sea creatures that are certain to gobble you up.  Swim to close and become fish food but stay away and live to collect the stars.  Each level has three stars to be collected.  They appear one at a time after the previous one is collected.  To keep things

interesting, stars typically appear on the other side of the pond and thru plenty of obstacles.  To beat each level, the goal is to collect three stars and get out of the level without becoming bait.  No sweat though if you do not make it, you can always try again with unlimited lives.

Controlling the Tasty Tadpole is extremely simple.  Touch the screen where ever you would like him to go and away he swims.  Be careful though, a badly timed touch or a straight line can lead to an ill fate for the little guy.

There are lots of other things to control too thru out the game that add a level of fun and complexity.  Examples such as a turtle that tucks his head away, frogs that leap off-screen and lily pads all add to the fun.

Over all, we really liked Tasty Tadpoles.  Especially the great graphics and fun game play.  For $.99, it seems hard to beat in the world of games for your phones.  Be sure to scoop it up and plan to spend plenty of time keeping that Tasty Tadpole safe.

To understand how the Cycloramic app works, we should talk about its features in “guided mode”.  This is the mode we used without the automatic rotation setting.  We found that it was easy to use and take a perfectly straight picture.  Its on-screen prompts make it simple to keep things straight and smooth.  This was especially nice because it ensured a quality shot each time.  We also found that the picture loaded quickly once we were done so we could take a look at our shot.  Over all a great experience and easy-to-use.

As for the auto rotation feature, it is obviously pretty exciting and the reason the Cycloramic app caught so much attention!  It only works on iPhone 5 at the moment but more specifically it only works on iPhone 5 GSM.  This is the model sold mainly by AT&T in the United States.  Obviously, this feature is pretty sweet.  If you do not have this phone though, we still encourage you to buy it!  For $.99, it does a great job taking panoramic pictures.  Be it on a special vacation or around your house, it is certain to help capture special memories!

This is only an iTunes app so far.  I hope the Cycloramic app becomes available for Android in the near future and will keep an eye out for it!  Until then for our Apple readers, be sure to download it today!

A foldable whiteboard is genius when you think about it.  Be it at a business meeting with team collaboration or a gathering for the local PTA, sometimes a pocket-size whiteboard is just what you need.  Not high-tech in appearance, but certain to encourage communication and a feeling of teamwork.

 When we found out the Pac-Man App and Ms. Pac-Man App were available for our phones, we had our doubts.  After all, Pac-Man has always been about larger screens in arcades or at your family television.

We have to admit though, both the Pac-Man app and Ms Pac-Man app play well and almost make you forget just how small the screen is.

Playing either app is about choosing the right control style for you.   No matter which control you choose, the joystick appears at the bottom of the screen.  This helps with planning your moves by seeing which way the controller is pointing and Pac-Man will turn.  If you played the original versions, you probably remember that you could move the joystick before the turn to make sure you made it.

The control options for both apps mean that you can find the option the works best for you.  The first option is for a classic swipe mode.  Swipe your finger which ever way you want it to go.  This was easy to learn and made playing feel simple and intuitive.  The second option uses the accelerometer in your phone to control Pac-Man.  Twist and turn your smart phone to make either app react.  This is fun though it does require some practice.  We found it was easiest when standing up and holding our phone flat.

Overall, we found the Pac-Man app and Ms. Pac-Man app were nearly as fun as the original version.  If there was one change we would love to see, it would be an options for two players!

Wireless Video Monitor for Skype with Skycam

Skycam is in the process of raising orders for a brand new idea that we thought was pretty cool.  It is attempting to be the first company to develop a wireless video monitor that uses Skype.

It is a pretty sweet idea actually for several different reasons.  It will allow customers to monitor where ever they choose wirelessly.  This means no wires or painful installation.  Once Skycam is set-up, users are able to view their videos from anywhere in the world with devices that can connect to Skype such as smartphones, tablets or computers.  The Skycam also offers a feature to record video with the use of a memory card port.

By using Skype as a video monitoring service, it provides easy and reliable service, often times for free.  Most video monitoring services require you to pay a service fee for a system that is not nearly as easy to use.  Using Skype also eliminates many of the challenges associated with logging into your camera when not on-site.

We’ve all been there, trying to turn off the alarm clock in the middle of the early morning hours.  It is so hard to find that ridiculously small off button.  Before you know it everyone in the house is up.  The Flip Alarm Clock has solved this problem once and for all though with, quite simply, the simplest design ever.  If you can flip the clock over, you can turn it off (or on).
